Admissions

Bedford Free School is a comprehensive school, we do not select by ability or aptitude.

All applications for places at BFS are made in accordance with the Local Authority’s co-ordinated admission arrangements and will be made on the common application form provided and administered by the Local Authority. These can be obtained through the Bedford Borough website www.bedford.gov.uk

Once Bedford Borough has processed your application it will be forwarded to us here at BFS. A place will only be offered if we have not reached our optimum number in that year group.

A member of our Pastoral Team will then contact you to arrange an initial meeting. If we are unable to offer a place you will be contacted by Bedford Borough Council who will advise you on how to proceed.

Admissions Policy

Bedford Free School has the whole community of Bedford and Kempston at its heart, and this is reflected in our Admissions Policy, anyone in Bedford Borough and beyond can apply.

Wherever you live, you need to apply through your Local Authority’s usual application process. If you live in Bedford Borough, you can apply online here.
